Stqarrija Stampa 17.01.2018
Bl-informazzjoni ġdida li ħarġet dwar il-bejgħ ta’ Vitals Global Healthcare lil Steward Healthcare, Awturi jappella lill-Ministru għas-Saħħa Chris Fearne, biex jiftaħ inkjesta dwar il-privatizzazzjoni tas-settur tas-saħħa f’Malta u Għawdex.
Nifhmu li s-sens komun jgħid li qatt ma kellu jsir dan il-ftehim ma’ kumpanija mingħajr esperjenza fil-qasam tas-saħħa, aħseb u ara ma’ kumpanija li tinħeba wara l-liġijiet ta’ ġurisdizzjoni sigrieta tal-British Virgin Islands. Biex tkompli tgħaxxaq, il-Gvern flok wera trasparenza fil-bejgħ tal-isptarijiet, ħeba l-kuntratti mill-pubbliku u għadu sal-lum jirrifjuta li jieħu azzjoni fil-każ.
Fil-kapaċità tiegħu bħala Ministru tas-Saħħa, Chris Fearne rrifjuta li jwieġeb dwar dan il-bejgħ minħabba li ma ffirmax il-ftehim hu. Madanakollu nisħqu li huwa Fearne, fl-irwol uffiċjali tiegħu, li għandu l-aktar saħħa politika li jirranġa l-ħsara qabel ma ssir permanenti.
Awturi jappella lill-Ministru Chris Fearne biex jieħu passi legali kontra Vitals Global Healthcare abbażi tal-kuntratt miksur bejn il-Ministeru u l-kumpanija, iwaqqaf il-ftehim bejn VGH u Steward Healtcare u jsejjaħ inkjesta indipendenti fil-ftehim oriġinali mal-VGH kif ġie iffirmat mill-Ministru Konrad Mizzi.

Press Release 17.01.2018
In light of new information that emerged regarding the sale of the legal tender to Steward Healthcare, a tender that was won by Vitals Global Healthcare, Awturi appeals to the minister responsible for the health sector, Chris Fearne, to start an inquiry into the privatisation of the national healthcare system.
It is common sense that the sale should have never been affected to a company without the requisite healthcare background, let alone a new company hidden behind the British Virgin Islands’ secrecy laws. To make matters worse, instead of being transparent during the privatisation, the Government kept the relevant contract hidden from the public and is to this day adamant about taking no action.
In his capacity as the Minister for Health, Chris Fearne distanced himself from the contract and refused to be answerable to it, citing the fact that he did not sign the deal himself. However, it is Fearne who holds the official role most politically appropriate to avert any further damage.
Awturi appeals to Minister Chris Fearne for legal action to be taken against Vitals Global Healthcare on the basis of a breach of contract between the ministry and the company, for the termination of pending talks between VGH and Steward Healthcare and for an independent inquiry to be called in the original agreement with VGH as signed by Minister Konrad Mizzi.
